Adult vs. Children's Literature

I think that Alice in Wonderland cannot be read as either adult or children literature. When reading in a adult mind frame you tend to look for a deeper meaning than what is really there. While reading it I could not find any connect or even find a point to the books besides pure confusion. I was trying so hard to make meaning out of the madness. But if I read it in a child like mind I would not even think to look for meaning just take the story for what it is, Alice going into a different land and having different adventures. The divisions that take place with the different readers are that children are not going to try and find meaning, or figure out why she had to fall down the rabbit hole, or meet all the characters she did. A child will not try and analyze the queens, Mad Hatter, and Cheshire cat. Where as the more logistic reader will analyze each situation from her falling into hole and everything else that happens to here throughout the story. The Tim Burton film I would consider it both a child and adult film. There are child like characteristics throughout the film that make it appealing to kids, the characters, colors used, and some of the humor. There are also qualities that make this film appealing to adult. Some like Tim Burton so that could be a reason as to why they saw this version, some of the jokes are more for adults. Along with giving this book a plot and storyline to follow where the book is missing it all together.
